What
Partners II means to me.
I
have been involved, in one way or another, in Lay Ministries (now Ministry
Outreach) since 1980. I can’t tell you
how much Pat and Kay have influenced my life.
I have been thru all the programs, some more than once. I was so glad when the MOABites (the board)
decided last year to add a second level.
It is so life giving to be able to speak about our concerns whether they
be family, church, or community. I
especially appreciate hearing from those that have different life views than
mine. It broadens my thinking. It means
so much that we can express different views points without trying to
convenience the other what is the “right” opinion.
The
gathering on 11/15 was energizing.
Looking at Vat II helps us know using our gifts for the good of the
community, the church and beyond is not and option. It is a call. Paul Lakeland’s book Catholicism at the Crossroads
serves as a spring board for putting what we know and experience into the mix
of conversations. We are affirmed and
supported. We are not cloned.
For
me a really important part is being with people I have traveled life’s journey
with since 1980. We gain new travelers
each year and it helps me grow and keeps me sane!!
We
talked about the fact that all the many gifts that were present in that room
were because of Baptism. We are called
and sent. We are priests and
prophets. I think we always come away
with the idea that we can make a difference.
We also kicked around the idea that we need to deepen our listening
skills with each other, but more importantly with those we meet in our every
day lives. Ya just never know when you
are bringing a gift of life and faith to another.
Thanks
MOABites for all your work.. I thank God for the gifts given Kay & Pat and that they are so willing
to use them. We are blessed by them and
we are blessing them…funny how that works.
